Carova
Corova beaches are absolutely stunning! Wild mustangs roam around (supposedly abandoned by Spanish explorers) and miles and miles of sand. These rental properties are only accessible by 4X4 beach access and are completely surrounded by sand. Although this might sound overly secluded, getting away from the unpaved roads made it feel like you were worlds away from Duck, North Carolina.
So thankful that Carova is primarily sand, because I lost my flip flops two days into our trip and went barefoot for the rest of the time. (Oops!)
Although we were in our own little piece of paradise, we did have to travel into town for groceries (and an inexpensive pair of flip flops). We came across these adorable shops in Duck on the way back to the house and found Cabernet, Merlot, and Mimosa cotton candy. Too funny!
I loved having the ability to have a car on the beach. We drove along the coast with music playing and the windows rolled down.
Emerald Isle
After a week in Carova, I joined my family in Emerald Isle. My family has been coming down to Emerald Isle for over 20 years. It's always been the first trip to kick off the summer, and is always a trip filled with laughter, card games, and long walks on the beach.
Can you tell us apart?
If you're in the Emerald Isle area, you must try the honey butter croissants from Rucker Johns, and the house fried potato chips with homemade blue cheese dip from Amos Mosquito's.
