Rainy Days

The weather is Charlottesville is supposed to be gross and rainy for the next week. I'm not looking forward to a week without sunshine at all! Although I'm not a big fan of continuous rainy days, it gives you the opportunity to whip out your rainy day apparel you don't always get to wear. Here is my shopping guide to taking on the rainy days like a Vogue model.

Sunday Beauty: Desert Essence

When was the last time you looked at your beauty routine? Do your products work in harmony with your body naturally, or do they strip natural oils? Desert Essence products work in harmony with your body, and are naturally-effective products formulated with only the best ingredients. Whether you're shopping for the organic guru, or the pumpkin spice obsessed, Desert Essence has products for every consumer. I'm a big fan of the Lemon Tea Tree Shampoo, not only does it smell like lemonade, it also leaves my curly hair soft and silky.

Shop for a Change: Pure Oil Blend
"With each Pure Oil Blend purchase, Desert Essence will donate 1% of sales to Plan International USA’s Because I Am a Girl Initiative, which improves the lives of girls through educational opportunities and resources."

Henri Bendel Sale

This weekend Henri Bendel is offering $20 off all full-priced bracelets. This is one heck of a deal, especially if combined with another coupon code. I purchased this Jetsetter Padlock Bracelet this morning, and can't wait until it arrives! Here are my top ten favorite bracelets from +Henri Bendel.

Spring 2016 Ready-To-Wear

This past Thursday kicked off the start of fashion month, however due to school, I still haven't had the opportunity to watch any of the shows. Thankfully I can keep up to date via Instagram and Vogue.com. Here are my favorite looks from Spring 2016 RTW so far...

Altuzarra:
I love the midi hemlines and the clean lines of the chic designs, and sophisticated dresses, from Altuzarra.

Christian Siriano:
I've been following Christian Siriano's career since season four of Project Runway. The last four pieces of his collection however, took me off guard. Rather than following the color scheme of the rest of the show, Siriano opted for bright eye-catching colors.

Monique Lhuillier:
Monique Lhuillier's designs make up my favorite collection so far at NYFW. These pieces are the perfect breath of fresh air for spring 2016. Lhuillier's collection as a whole flows flawlessly from piece to piece.

Back to School Fashion with Madeline and Company

As hard as it is to admit it, school is back in session. Just a couple weeks ago I started my senior year of high school (AHHH!). Although I'm dreading the college process, I'm excited to see what the future has in store for me. Back to school can be more fun than ever with these adorable backpacks from Madeline and Company. Today I'm so excited to share my interview with Madeline from Madeline and Company on the blog! I think young entrepreneurship is one of the most inspiring things, and Madeline was so much fun to work with.

Meet Madeline:

Tell us a little about yourself!

I'm Madeline, and I'm a high school senior from the Midwest. I've always searched for a backpack that was cute yet functional, but I could never find the best of both worlds. I designed this bag so that it would hold all of my folders and binders plus my laptop. I included some of my favorite design details into each of the bags: color blocking, faux leather, stripes, and metallics.

Do you have any designers who influence you?

I love Kate Spade's whimsy, J. Crew's clean lines, and Lilly Pulitzer's colors!

What is your favorite part about having you own company?

Working with people across the country! It has been so fun to work with bloggers and YouTubers from both the East and West Coast; I would have never made these fabulous connections without Madeline & Company!
Also, it makes my day to read an email or comment or product review from a customer saying how much they like their backpack!

Do you have any advice for other young entrepreneurs out there?

Find a mentor! I have worked so closely with my Mom during this entire process. I never could have done it without her experience, expertise, and support. Your mentor doesn't have to be the CEO of a company or famous designer; it could be anybody that will support you and offer feedback.

What gave you the idea for the inspirational sayings found on each backpack?

Everybody can always use a little pick-me-up during the middle of the day! I think it such a fun idea to look down after a tough test or long class and see "laugh often" written on your backpack.

I saw on your website there was a section for clothing (!!) Can you give us a hint on what to expect?

Our goal is to launch that section around the holidays! I can't give too much away, but think party skirts and dresses– perfect for both school and holiday parties!

Sunday Beauty: Contour & Highlighting

I'm so excited to collaborate with one of my best friends today on the blog! Lauren and I met in New York City two summers ago, and not only is she an amazing makeup artist, but she's also an accomplished "youtuber."  I'm currently obsessed with highlighting and contouring, and asked Lauren to make a "how to" video of how she contours and highlights. Make sure to subscribe to her Youtube channel here: Lauren Roberta
